Our story

A century and a quarter caring for life.

The Model Botanical Garden was founded in 1892 as part of an ambitious scientific research project. Over the years it has become a reference space for plant conservation, scientific outreach and public enjoyment.

Foundation of the garden with the first Iberian flora collections.
1934
Opening of the tropical greenhouse, the largest in the region.
1978
Opening to the public and creation of the school education program.
2010
Renovation of the ethnobotanical garden and pollinator garden.
